Transitioning is not only about gender identity, it is also about safety. Given the incidence of racist and transphobic violence against trans refugees – on the streets, in public transport, in public services, etc. – but also considering the many difficulties and threats they face in their daily lives, presenting as their preferred gender can be a matter of life or death for trans people. And for those who are already in the process of transitioning, pursuing it is imperative and for health reasons.

Taking into account the sum of these risks, as well as the significance of the transitional process for trans people, Emantes cover the cost of facial hair removal for trans women refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.

The idea behind this service is to support trans women on a practical level, based on the understanding that as women, their facial hair growth is less of an aesthetic concern than one that contradicts their gender identity and expression, which is too often a cause for hate speech and other forms of racist and transphobic violence.

The laser facial hair removal service for trans women is an immediate and effective protection measure, and a means of enhancing trans women’s gender identity and expression.

Emantes provide this service in exclusive collaboration with the Eternal Beauty Institute.

This provision includes as many sessions as are required to achieve the desired result. The service is also provided on a short term basis to people who meet the criteria and intend to relocate to another country.
